Speakeasy 8: Count Bass D & J-Live + More!
February 20, 2010    9:00PMbuy tickets

Yessir! Believe your eyes - it's really happening. The Ocho has been dialed up and locked in. It's an all-star cast of sorts made up of crew and crowd favorites.

Jay Are unites two of hip hop's jazziest and most soulful brothers, John Robinson (aka Lil' Sci) and J Rawls (of Lone Catalyst fame). They're fresh off the album, The 1960's Jazz Revolution Again, and they've really struck a chord on this one. This chord is dissonant and easy on the ears at the same time. It's built on a mind state reminiscent of (arguably) the best era of jazz when all the monsters were killing it, making lots of music, traveling the world and collaborating with each other. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mcXnBhtGf3o&feature=related That's what's up!

J-Live graces the stage with one of the illest triple threat shows imaginable. He kills it on all aspects like the seasoned vet he is...a real crowd mover. If you're lucky, you might catch him beat juggling and spitting at the same time. His unique style is so comfortable and deep it seems like it's celestially channeled...a true master of self. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6O7vgubklqc You're welcome!

Count Bass D is an auteur. He's a songsmith and MPC annihilator. He's genuine and unwavering, and he puts on a killer show. He's probably your favorite musician's favorite musician and one of the few really doing it right in the south. His love for music shines bright within his own. Dude seems to be extra amped right now - just dropped 2 albums for free, and I hear there's hella more material on deck. Hartsfield JAXson is my shit! http://www.frank151.com/fdl/atlanta_backwoods?page=1&view=blog Only the greats!

Your favorite staples, The Nice Guise w/ Newberry Jam, are back with intent to rock harder than ever. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=regaIyFSzSU&feature=related DJ Dug Boogie, the baddest ATLien on the wheels of steel, is guaranteed to turn it out. http://djdugboogie.podomatic.com Fort Knox is the host with the most and is gonna keep things movin' and keep you groovin'. Some of ATL's dopest writers will provide vivacious visuals, and as always the vibes are Milt Jackson.

To those who know - thank you! To those who don't, come check us! Shit's bananas and cantaloupes!
